Date:1917

Description:The sandy soil has been disturbed to lay sewer pipes (centre left to the middle of the photograph) from the Camp heading down to the filter beds at the end of Old Acre Lane. In the centre of the photograph Stafford Castle can be seen in the distance. The hill rising to the right housed "J" Lines upon its summit.

Years later a gravel pit opened which is now a Nature Reserve and additional housing has appeared at the end of the Lane. After World War 1 some of the huts were purchased from the Camp and used as housing in Brocton village and as a Village Hall. One of these has only recently been dismantled and taken to an educational facility in East Anglia.
