Date:1930 - 1936 (c.)

Description:Brocton Gravel Company operated from the end of Old Acre Lane from about 1930. The single storey building in the middle background was the general office with a despatch office and weighbridge adjoining. The large white building in the centre of the picture was the engine house with the diesel storage tank to the right of it. The tall iron structure was the gravel storage bunker with the gravel washer alongside. When the Gravel Company closed the land was made over to Staffordshire County Council who decided to create a nature reserve. During World War1 the area had been the site of large water storage tanks each about the size of a small municiple swimming baths.

'K Ltd' in stamp box on reverve of Postcard. Appears on privately printed RP(Real Picture) postcards. This may be the the manufacturer of the photographic paper (Kodak Ltd?), apparently used between 1918 and 1936.
