Description:Brocton Hall was built in 1760, George Chetwynd undertook extensive remodelling in 1801. The Hall and land was acquired by Cannock Chase Golf Club in 1922 who had lost their club house on Cannock Chase in a fire. The club was renamed Brocton Hall Golf Club. On 7th October 1939 a fire broke out at Brocton Hall causing the complete destruction of the top floor. The fire was caused by the flame from a blow-lamp which ignited the flat asphalt wood roof. The blow lamp was being used by a workman repairing the gutter. Fanned by strong winds the fire spread rapidly and in a very short time the roof was a mass of flames
