Description:On 7th October 1939 a fire broke out at Brocton Hall causing the complete destruction of the top floor. The fire was caused by the flame from a blow-lamp which ignited the flat asphalt wood roof. The blow lamp was being used by a workman repairing the gutter. Fanned by strong winds the fire spread rapidly and in a very short time the roof was a mass of flames.
